God, I want to form a gang of Avengers right now on FB. C:

I have a Thor RP account, so please go ahead and add me. My name there is Thor Greatgod. So far, we might have a Tony Stark (if he’s willing) and we have a Loki.

Who’s up for some silliness?

((I’m in on this, bro. Totally. :3))

bipolar-freak replied to your post: ((I’ve got a roleplay Facebook account now.))

SO MANY FEELS

This scene is SOOOOO important and so few people are talking about it.WHY? Seriously. If you want any proof that he’s not completely in control the whole movie, here it is. Loki is just a pawn with big plans who has gotten himself into huge shit and can’t get out of it. And this scene makes it pretty fucking obvious that they’ve been torturing and manipulating him and are threatening to make it a thousand times worse.
I should probably just post my insane 5k essay I’ve written on how fucked up Loki is in this film. Because I’ve just got a lot of feelings.

He looks really rough when he comes to earth and it’s like, what the hell’s happened to him? And he has those brief moments when he’s fighting Thor on Stark Tower where he looks around at the destruction, and it’s like he briefly snaps out of it, as if he’s lost control and has no idea how things got this way.

I’ve seen several versions of this post, and they’re all very interesting discussion, but usually boils down to people arguing about how Loki is an evil fucker who has control of himself, is not under any sort of mind control and doesn’t just need a hug to make things better.  I’m not sure why it has to be so black and white.  People of this world aren’t black and white.  That’s what’s interesting about villains like Loki and Magneto and various others (whose names I cannot think of because my brain has decided those are the only two villains it can remember today).  They’re not just straight up evil.  Magneto is working from what he perceives to be right, but let’s focus on Loki here.
Even through history scholars haven’t been able to agree on Loki.  Some have compared him to the Christian devil while others interpret him as more the straight up neither good nor evil trickster.   “More ink has been spilled on Loki than on any other figure in Norse myth. This, in itself, is enough to show how little scholars agree, and how far we are from understanding him.”  So, really we could all debate his motivation for why he does what he does until the cows come home.  When you get down to its base level, in Marvelverse, I think we can all agree he is very angry at Asgard and more specifically Thor.
In Avengers though, we can tell very clearly that he is being manipulated.  I rather doubt it’s to the point of having his mind controlled, but they are obviously using his rage and pushing his buttons to get what they want out of him.  It’s pretty easy to see after talking to him for two minutes that Loki wants to mess things up for Thor and destroy something he loves.  It makes perfect sense to push that anger and energy in a direction that will get you what you want as well.
And what about that stupid staff?  It’s not any good for him either.  We saw what happened to our heroes when they were in the same room as it for ten minutes.  They were biting and snapping at each other and Bruce (who, as he later tells us, is always angry) is drawn to it.  It feeds on anger, so just imagine how that’s messing with Loki, a very angry person, when he has it with him almost constantly.  When I see this movie for a third time, I plan to really study the difference between Loki when he has the staff and when he doesn’t, because I noticed he tends to think far more rationally when he doesn’t have it.
As for the hugs…  Thor is trying.  Thor tries so hard in this movie to show Loki that he still loves his little brother and that if he would just stop they could figure things out.  The trouble is, a nice chunk of Loki’s anger stems from the fact that Thor won’t give up on him.  No matter what he’s done, Thor still loves him and that unconditional love enrages Loki.  To paraphrase Hiddles, the opposite of love isn’t hate but indifference and Loki hates Thor.  I think anotherforworkingdays said it best with a summary of Loki’s thoughts being “You are making me love you and I hate you for that.”  And so, the question we’re left with is how can Thor (or anyone) hope to help him when he doesn’t want to be helped?
So, Loki’s not just some senseless evil being but he’s certainly no misunderstood innocent victim either.  He is angry and complex and boiling it down to the simple black and white of good or evil is an insult to everyone involved in the development of his character.

I think if there is a god, that they surpass the boundaries that are gender and sex.

I wonder if the OP is a white male.

How can she sound white

O-o

You can’t tell someone’s ethnicity by the way they write.

If there is a god, I believe it would surpass our standard gender binary. After all, it’s supposed to be “above us” and “beyond our comprehension”. Not to mention it made us in its image.

Or, if you’re stupid to understand that: shut up and stop spewing worthless garbage.
